No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA) of 2025
HR 1526/S ??
What is this bill and why is it fascist?
HR 1526, sponsored by Darrell Issa (R-CA-48)
One of the silver-est linings of fascism is that fascist laws tend to be very simple and straight to the point. Which makes it far easier for people without a background in law like me to understand what it’s saying. HR 1526 is very much that kind of bill.
Clocking in at a little under two pages, NORRA of 2025 (which should have been a weird cult classic movie from the 70s) amends title 28 of the US Code to no longer allow federal district judges to issue nationwide injunctions.
An example of a recent injunction would be, say, if a district judge was presented with a case about a large group of men who are accused of being gang members and the federal government used at 18th century law to extradite them with no due process to a super prison in a foreign country. Said judge could find the actions of the federal government to be so egregious that he issues an injunction to ensure no further actions can continue until he has reached a verdict. And in Darrell Issa’s eyes, that is just too fucked up a power for a federal judge to wield.
Emily Brooks of The Hill wrote a perfectly succinct article for why this bill is being fast tracked. President Trump has called for Judge James Boasberg to be impeached for holding up this international gulag plan & Representative Brandon Gill of Texas swiftly introduced articles of impeachment. The problem though is, just like with presidents, to get a full impeachment 2/3 of the Senate have to agree. Democrats definitely have their share of fascist enablers (looking at you Fetterman and Shaheen), but finding 14 extra Senators to impeach a judge whose only crime is pissing off Trump is about as impossible as you can get. So, Issa introduced this bill as the next best thing. If they can’t kick out Boasberg, they can remove his ability to hold back Trump.I
It’s just a bald faced attempt to remove power from the judicial branch and grant the executive branch more power. Or simply, fascism.
